Ice Kissed (Kanin Chronicles) | bk 2 | by Amanda Hocking

Hey everyone, so I can’t believe I’ve read 6 books in 1 MONTH!!! HOW COOL IS THAT!!!

I told many of my relatives about reading 6 books in a month and this is their reaction.-  😮 ! Hehe!! I think this is my highest record of books I’ve read in a month but I know the are people, YouTubers and bloggers out there who’ve read more than me, and that’s so cool.

So let’s get on with the review!

Background

In the majestic halls of a crystal palace lies a secret that could destroy an entire kingdom…

Bryn Aven refuses to give up on her dream of serving the kingdom she loves. It’s a dream that brings her to a whole new realm…and the glittering palace of the Skojare.

The Skojare people need protection from the same brutal enemy that’s been threatening the Kanin, and Bryn is there to help. Being half Skojare herself, it’s also a chance for her to learn more about her lost heritage. Her boss, Ridley Dresden, is overseeing her mission, but as their undeniable attraction heats up, their relationship is about to reach a whole new level—one neither of them is prepared for.

As they delve deeper into the Skojare world, they begin to unravel a long-hidden secret. The dark truth about her own beloved Kanin kingdom is about to come to light, and it will change her place in it forever…and threaten everyone she loves. – Goodreads

My Opinions

As I read throughout the book, I found some parts of the book pretty boring (still have to read) and some aren’t. I still think it is addictive and intriguing in most parts of the book. I do like how throughout the plot, there is something that makes you so captivated to know more ( which sadly can’t give you spoilers on ). Overall it is addictive and captivating but the first book was even more intriguing than this.

For the genre and content stuff, this book’s genres are YA (Young Adult), Fantasy, Romance and Paranormal. In content wise, it also has violence and even more politics so definitely for teens and above.

For the storyline/plot, I found it exceptional. I am really not sure how to explain it. But all I could say is that there is a plot in the the book which is amazing. There is more than 1 plot twists which is really cool. I found it really captivating. Amazing storyline.

For the world building, hands down it is a 5 star for that. The author had put a lot of detail about the Skojare tribe’s landscape, kingdom, ecology, mythologies and history etc. Amazing job on that, I think that I learnt so much about the other tribe which I could spend time talking for an hour or so about it.

I really can’t explain any character because I couldn’t give spoilers. So for the main character (Bryn Aven). I think she is really stubborn, independent, loyal and fierce as well. I can see that even though she went to the Skojare tribe because she is half Skojare, she still is loyal to her Kanin tribe no matter what. I find it so frustrating that she had to pull away from Ridley many times. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU BRYN?? But even though it is frustrating, I can sort of understand that she doesn’t want to get this relationship standing on top of her own dreams which makes her more independent like I said earlier. Overall I do like how loyal and Independent she is to the Kanin tribe, for I believe that makes her unique.

Spoilers from here onwards…

“So, what do you say, white rabbit?”

God this part trapped me into reading the next book instead of me choosing to read it later while I could’ve started blogging last night. This book has so much suspense in it at the END!!! OMG, why is this so addictive? I just couldn’t handle it any longer but just wanted to show you this. I really like this quote because when an enemy confronts you at anywhere out of nowhere, you just don’t know what to do. This is actually favourite part about this book. Amazing work Amanda.

★★★★☆ – 4 stars

Overall I rate it four stars, but I still think that the first book is definitely the best book to read. But if you do enjoy the first book, then give this one a try. Can’t wait to finish reading the last book!!!

Enjoy!  🙂
